I never realised how much fun it'd be to transform landscapes with textures. I tend to associate textures with flowers and still life scenes. Inspired again by Kim Klassen I took this scene from a river estuary at low tide - I love the old rustic boathouse and the bright yellow of the rape seed field with the tractor tracks. But I gained a valuable lesson from this little project - when trying to create vintage look out for the out-of-place modern bits. It wasn't until I'd finished I realised there was a contemporary lamp post peeping out from the trees and a metal telegraph pole with a length of wire. I think I just about managed to rescue the image with a little playing about with the clone stamp in Photoshop. A steep learning curve! Against the original it looks a little dull at first - but I've really grown to like this painterly look.
